iPass SmartConnect™ App Reviews

Easily connected anywhere !

Great user experience, I particularly like the offline hotspot finder so I can always find the nearest available hotspot, and connect immediately. The software is actually not needed after the first connections, it remains on background and the connections are visible directly on my iPad and iPhone, cool stuff.

Good app but...

The iPass app works very well with my iPhone 4s but it constantly crashes on my iPhone 5. Strange!

Issue with ios5.1

Previous version was working okay. The new release does not start up on IOS5.1

Crashes far too often

Not acceptable

Why does a hotspot app need activity data?

I really do not see how it helps saving battery by allowing this app to access my activities data. Privacy issue here? The developer needs to explain it better.

Very bad annoying

This app makes it so much harder to connect to free wifi offered by hotel, airport, etc that has ipass designation even your hotel rate include internet. As an example: attwifi. It is very frustrating that you have to login and logout through ipass then it will allow you to logon to the logon page. On top of that it always disconnect and makes your connection unstable. The only solution is to uninstall and cancel your membership. Go with other services.

Prevents you from connecting at Marriott

Have to uninstall app in order to connect at Marriott hotels.

Not compatible with old Corporate IDs

Whats about old Corporate IDs used in iPass Wifi global connect? Why this old version was dismissed before ensure Corporate customers was migrated to new one authentication schema?

Works great for inflight WiFi...

Just used this app on my flight to LA to connect to inflight WiFi and it connected just fine. I didnt have any issues.... Motion notifications are a little annoying some times but 5 stars for my great inflight experience.

Perfect

This app is a great way to get free wifi about anywhere. Its easy to use as well.

Best Global Mobile Connectivity

iPass connects me securely and seemlessly to Wi-Fi hotspots anywhere and everywhere. The "smart" technology allows me to be a productive mobile professional. Great innovative service!

This app drives me crazy

I cannot even turn it off, how could I connect to the free wifi!!! Have to delete it!!!

Simply terrible

We are testing this app and its not cutting it. You have to open the iPass app to connect to previously connected wifi even when in range. At other times when it connects theres no service so why does it connect. I verified the ipass traffic throttle down and its very very slow. I prefer not to use this garbage.

Great app

After a few flights it began connecting me automatically to gogo. Really happy with this app.

Too many captive portal issues

Have to uninstall as iPass causes issues with captive portals that dont support iPass.

My home network identified as an iPass network...

... and each time I arrive home I have to launch iPass to connect. How do I turn network recognition off?

Blocks Free WiFi

I really like the fact that it shows a iPass Network in the Settings->WiFi. However, if that network is free, I cant log onto it. For example, at the Delta Sky Club in Seattle, they use TMobile. Well, that is an iPass Network. Somehow, iPass hijacks my WiFi and I cant do the free login. The same thing happened in Boston Sky Club and a Residence Inn in Westford. I had to delete it off my phone to connect to the free WiFi locations. Once, using the app, did connect but I wasnt sure I was paying for a free connection. The other times I tried to use the app to connect at a free spot (including a Starbucks in Mill Creek, WA) the app had a failed to login message. Makes it kind of useless when it hijacks regular WiFi. (iPhone 5, iOS 6.02)

Note from iPass

Just a quick note from us at iPass. We have heard from some of you regarding the latest version of iPass Open Mobile preventing you from connecting to certain networks on your own. We recognize the urgency of the issue and are working to getting this matter fixed soon. iPass

Using ipass on free networks

I am unable to join a free network (McDonalds for example) without using ipass. ipass takes ownership of the device and the only way to join the network is through ipass. That seems a bit unfair to force us to use ipass for a free network and the time spent on the network goes against our monthly allotment of hours to be used on ipass. Please fix this functionality.

Doesnt work, instructions unclear

Im willing to admit I may not be the most tech savvy person, but went through activation without a hitch. Now what? Have tried everything I know to try and connect, disabled cellular data to force device to connect to wifi. Still nothing. Have had iPhone apps for couple of weeks and now trying iPad app. Still to this day have not connected to one network. Searched the website for help and nothing. Very confusing app. I just dont get it.
